London transport over Xmas period

Travel changes and information

Between Saturday 22 December 2018 and Tuesday 1 January 2019, planned works and service changes may affect your journey.

Please check with TFL prior to travelling.

Key service changes will include:

No services on Christmas Day except for Santander Cycles, Dial-a-Ride (for registered members only), Taxi and Private Hire and coaches which are available throughout the Christmas period

No London Overground, TfL Rail or Thames Clippers services on Boxing Day

In addition there may be industrial action on the Bakerloo line on Boxing Day, if this goes ahead there will be no service on that line.

Christmas Eve:

There is a reduced service on the underground:

Weekday services are running. They are being reduced from about 15:00

Most last trains are at Sunday times

The Waterloo & City line is running a reduced service all day, with last trains at about 23:15

On the buses there is no night services and all routes expected to stop by midnight

Christmas Day:

No public transport

Boxing Day:

A reduced Sunday service will be running

First trains will run from about 07:45

Services will be reduced from about 20:00

Last trains will be at weekday times

No District line service between Earl’s Court and Kensington (Olympia)

No service on the Waterloo & City line

27th December, London underground:

First and last trains run at weekday times

Reduced Saturday services will run

First Central line trains between Hainault and Woodford at Saturday times

Waterloo & City line will run a reduced service

28th December underground:

As per 27th but there will be night tubes

29th and 30th December, no major changes to usual weekend transport, but please check prior to travelling.

31st December underground:

No Piccadilly line service between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge

First trains will be at weekday times

On most lines, trains will run every 2-8 minutes in central London and every 5-15 minutes in outer areas and on branches until 04:30 on New Year’s Day

The Waterloo & City line will run every 3-10 minutes until about 02:30

Services are not as frequent on some sections of the Central, Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines.

January 1st underground:

There will be no District line service between Earl’s Court and Kensington (Olympia)

There will be no Piccadilly service between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge until 11:00

On most lines, trains will run about every 3-10 minutes in central London and about every 10-30 minutes in outer areas and on branches after 04:30

Trains will run less frequently or start later on some sections of the Central, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Piccadilly and Waterloo & City lines. Check your journey for details

Last trains will be at weekday times
