The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), and the office of the National Coordinator Protect and Prepare (NCPP) are aware of, and are monitoring, the incident that has taken place in Paris this morning.
Details of Incident
Police are aware two incidents occurred in Paris on Saturday 18th March 2017. During the first incident, shortly before 7am , a police officer was shot and injured at a road check in suburbs north of Paris.
During the second incident, which took place at approximately 8 .30 am, a male was shot and killed at Paris Orly Airport, by security forces, after grabbing a gun belonging to a soldier before running off.
There are unconfirmed reports that the same male was involved in both incidents (recent news reports have confirmed this).
The MPS and NCPP will provide further updates through CSSC, if appropriate, once we are able to review information received from relevant authoritative sources.
Advice & Further Information
The threat from International Terrorist is Severe meaning an attack is highly likely. Police officers are fully aware of the threat level and are operating at a high level of awareness.
