Million Mask March & United Voices of the World – 5th November 2016

The annual Million Mask March will take place on the 5th of November.

The march starts a 18:00hrs at Trafalgar Square.

The route covers the following;

Trafalgar Square

Whitehall

Parliament Square

There is the possibility of groups visiting Govt offices in the Victoria area to protest.

In 2015 the march got as far as Parliament Square before splitting in to multiple smaller groups. The majority of the march stayed in the West End, with smaller groups protesting on and around Victoria St.

Last year at the same event, the police dealt with a range of issues such as obstruction to the highway, unlawful trespass on premises, public order offences including violent disorder and criminal damage. 48 people were arrested by the police.

There will be a large police presence in the area for the protest.

A second protest, organised by United Voices of the World (UVW) is planned to start at 16:00hrs. They are targeting John Lewis on Oxford St, due to their belief that subcontracted cleaners are paid below the minimum wage and treated unfairly. In previous years the group has targeted Topshop.

Members of the Operations team will be present in London during these protests, to assist and manage incidents when required.

Updates on the protest will be sent out via this blog.
