On Tuesday 10th May 2016 the Metropolitan Police Service were made aware of media reporting outlining the arrest of two Afghan nationals in Bari, Italy. The same reporting claimed that evidence existed that suggested attack planning in Rome and London.
In response to a number of enquiries from businesses the Metropolitan Police Service Counter Terrorism Command said:
‘As yet we have not established any threat to UK interests, however we are continuing to make enquiries in respect of the Italian investigation. Any update, if appropriate, will follow as and when we know more.’
The current threat level in relation to International Terrorism remains at SEVERE, meaning that an attack is highly likely.
