Please read following message from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital – if you could cascade this information to your colleagues and any other stakeholders. BMA junior doctors’ industrial action 8am 1 December to 8am 2 December 2015
* Senior managers and clinicians in the Trust are working closely with trade union representatives to ensure that the quality and safety of care that we provide to patients is not compromised on 1 December when junior doctors taking industrial action will provide an ’emergency only’ service
* From 8am on Tuesday 1 December to 8am on Wednesday 2 December, emergency care will be prioritised – we expect to run all urgent and emergency care services for patients including A&E and maternity, and we expect to run all community services as usual
* Consultants will cover the usual duties of our junior doctors on our hospital wards to ensure the safety of inpatients
* We will need to cancel most non-urgent operations and a significant number of outpatient clinic appointments which are due to take place during the industrial action – we apologise for any inconvenience caused to patients due to circumstances outside our control (this is a national strike) * Any patients affected will be contacted in advance of 1 December
