The City of London Police force has launched ‘The 12 online frauds of Christmas’ campaign to protect millions of people across the country from falling victim to cyber-fraudsters.
Known as Black Friday, the 28th November marked the start of the busiest four days of internet shopping of the year and the force is leading a UK-wide drive involving 37 local forces to raise awareness of a dozen online frauds that could ruin Christmas for many.
Working in partnership with other police forces and a range of public and private sector supporters including the Home Office, Get Safe Online, National Trading Standards, Crimestoppers, Victim Support, British Banker’s Association, Intellectual Property Office and Financial Conduct Authority, the force will be highlighting the ‘do’s’ and ‘don’ts’ of online shopping.
The force is now running ‘Op Presence’, its Christmas campaign in the City which is aimed at preventing members of the public from falling prey to opportunistic thieves whilst out celebrating the festive season in the City. The campaign follows on from the success of last year’s ‘Not Everyone is as Nice as You’ approach and aims to minimise the likelihood of violent and acquisitive crime and maximise the safety of the City community.
Please find the ’12 online frauds of Christmas’ campaign leaflet attached.
